Time out. Like all of my paintings, I like to paint experiences, places,  things and memories where I feel at peace or at ease, and one of those is on holiday. I live a fast-paced life, as I'm sure you do too.  It seems to go from one deadline to another, meetings after meetings, schedules and emails.

But when I go away on holiday, it's time out. It's time to put the phone away, it's time to read books, and I don't have to be anywhere….there’s no schedule.  I can just take time out.

One of my favourite things to do is to sit poolside with a book, accompanied by a really nice, chilled Sauvignon, just knowing that I don't have to be anywhere. I could be in that pool for five minutes, I could be there for an hour… there’s no requirements to be anywhere…this is pure joy.

This piece reminds me of how rare it is to have ‘no plans’ and how important it is to take time out. This time is special, and it feeds the brain and the body for what's ahead. It's our recharge button. I feel refreshed after a break and ready to go all over again. If anything, I need to take more time out and have more of these trips and memories to enjoy.

And that's why I painted time out. It serves as a reminder of the times when I feel truly at peace, and also as a reminder to get another holiday booked!

I hope you love Time Out as much as I do.
