I live in my grandparents' home - a place I know well. It's where my roots are, my father's roots are and the place our extended family calls 'home'.
For years, I remember long, hot summers playing in my grandfather's beautiful garden that was his pride and joy. He had a small orchard, which was fabulous.
As we took on ownership of this home and much of the garden changed, my aunt gifted me an apple tree. There are now vibrant red apples every year as the tree builds its strong roots into the foundation of our home.
This apple tree was the inspiration for this piece that marries the visual identity of the tree as it evolves and bears fruit, and the emotional tie-in that we all have to our roots- where we're from and our childhood, which is often foundational in who we are today.
