Keel Point
- Acrylic, pouring acrylics, pewter leaf, mixed medium
- An original
- 40x30cms
- Monochrome frame / black and white with gold inlay
Fancy seeing #KeelPoint in #Dundrum through my rose-tinted specs? Remember: I love to live life in colour and I take inspiration from the landscape - how it makes me feel, accentuating colour and texture etc.
Nestled at the foot of the Mourne Mountains on the edge of Dundrum Village lies Keel Point. As the entrance to Murlough National Nature Reserve, it’s a beautiful, untouched and somewhat secluded spot.
After a manic day at work, I had planned to meet some friends here for a walk. It was a typical summer’s evening in Ireland, with soggy ground, grey skies and peeks of brightness coming through. The water was calm, and despite the rush of trying to get there after work, the quietness of Keel Point almost instantaneously brought me down quite a few notches to a place of calm, presence and grounding.
After 40 odd years, how can I still be surprised at how much nature calms the mind and touches the soul? This is a new favourite spot and one that evokes joy through its stillness.
Keel Point…for the originals.
