A special place that offers calm to city living. Right beside Belfast Lough, I’ve visited Hazelbank Park with pals and most recently, with my mum. We’ve chatted, walked, ate 99s, and watched the world go by. 

On both visits, this tree caught my eye. It stood proud, right beside the sea, weathering the elements of all seasons in Northern Ireland. How many people must have travelled this path and walked under this tree over the years? What stories would this tree tell us if it could talk?  How many people have sat on the benches, looking out over the sea, laughing, crying, trying to navigate this life. 

Young families, screaming kiddies, smiling kiddies, couples young and old, and my mum, my pals and I have all travelled this path and enjoyed these stunning views which stretch to County Down. 

A short drive from Belfast and adjacent to one of the busiest commuter routes in the city, Hazelbank Park is easily accessible via the roundabout at the junction of Shore Road and the M5 motorway. It’s also home to the majestic Coronation Garden, designed by Diarmuid Gavin, and officially opened by His Majesty King Charles lll and Queen Camilla in May 2023. 

Following weeks of painting and layers and layers of brushstrokes, we have a final piece.
