This beauty welcomes me home from work every day. I have these gorgeous blazing flowers, known as Liatris spicata, or commonly known as blazing star or gayfeather, at my front door.

But they don’t just mean home to me, they’re home to the bees. They're a huge pollinator and really I wanted to capture them in a painting because of their absolute beauty - the tall, upright spikes of densely packed purple feathery flowers, which bloom from the top down.

This painting is a riot of colour. I hope it captures the unique nature of these beautiful plants that change over the summer months, of the vibrancy of the flowers and also of the copper tones of my home.

This piece would look amazing in any home if you love colour, uplifting energy and vibrancy. It’s the bee’s knees
