Living Life in Colour

Living Life in Colour

Why do I love colour so much??

Quite simply, living life in colour is beautiful. Colour makes everything better. In this crazy world there's so much beige. So you can actively choose to live in colour.

Thankfully my mum introduced me to colour because she's not afraid of it either. Over the years when I was growing up she wore colourful outfits, our home was fairly colourful and I guess that taught me to be brave and that it's okay to stand out.

And then being in the art college where anything was acceptable, colour was embraced, as were many styles and genres.

When I see smart, slick, white interiors, I appreciate their beauty. But when you set that beside something that's full of colour and life I know which one I choose every single day.

For me, when I look at paintings, I want them to pop with colour. Even whenever I dress for work, with two options  -  a green suit or black suit  - the green suit always wins. And it's always the bright colours and the bright outfits that people comment on.

And do you know what? They help me have an extra spring in my step. Colour isn't something to be feared. It's something to be embraced. People gravitate towards colour. Colour shows vibrancy and life, and it’s a great way to visually signal your personality.

My preference for colour is bold colours. I love vibrant pieces. I love deep colours, bold colours, primary colours, particularly reds, pinks, yellows, greens, and blues. And I love pops of neon. These colours when combined are the staple ingredient Art by Riki. One thing you'll never get is a dull painting.

So for me, when there are two options, there's living life in beige or there's living life in colour, I choose colour. I choose colour every single time.
